I managed the purchasing of laboratory supplies for 180 students within $15,000 budget, and prepared and standardized chemistry reagents and solutions in 2-10L quantity per week. I assisted classes of 24 students in general and organic chemistry upon instructor request. A crucial part of my job was to ensure chemical waste was properly classified and within disposal limits, then submitting or disposing of it within the prescribed manner. In order to do this, I communicated with University of Washington Bothell EHS and Cascadia administration to find practical solutions for chemical safety.

I worked as part of a 12 person team developing and operating a pilot scale reactor for polymerizations. As a chemist, I conducted primary literature search and evaluated findings for industrial application. The techniques evaluated to determine industrial applicability were FTIR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR spectra along with GPC and Hydroxyl Value results. I relayed synthetic chemistry methodology to chemical engineers for rate and thermodynamic analysis, and participated in the review of process and instrumentation diagrams(P&IDs). I also was invited to participate in the Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) for the system as a technical expert. Other portions of my position consisted of assisting DeltaV programmers in developing an operator friendly outlay, and testing the function logic and alarm settings of the system prior to start-up.Once the start-up was passed, we conducted polymerization reactions using the on-site system; monitoring system pressure, reagent flow, temperature, and batch data for daily consistency. I assisted in writing and modifying SOP's, and relayed instrument functions and alarm set point interactions to DeltaV system programmers
