“Fashion is part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of a revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes.” Diana Vreeland. Fashion, to me, has always been more than just clothes. It is a form of cultural identity and a way for some to speak their truth without saying any words. Being a part of designing and creating the clothes that allow people to express themselves has been an interest of my own, but I have always wanted to be a part of something bigger. That is why my expertise is in Marketing, because I want to be a part of spreading the big picture. Attaining an education at the Visual College of Art and Design opened a bigger window than I could have ever imagined. I learned the ins and out of every aspect of the industry, starting from how to source fabric to how to build your own website. The skills I learned were updated and relevant to what is happening in the industry now. Marketing, merchandising, buying, and styling were all aspects that especially allowed me to envision a successful path once I graduated. What sparked my interest was the aspect of potentially working in a career that would help a starting or established business create their vision to entice customers. In my experience, I have worked within the restaurant industry. Even though this is far from my desired career path, I learned skills that will forever transfer over to any career I decide to step into. One of the biggest admirable aspects about my work ethic is that I will always be passionate and put my all into everything that I do. With only 1 year of serving, I was promoted to floor manager and from there, leadership has been one of my best qualities to date. I learned that I will always try to help anyone find what they are good at and flourish, and that is what I do with my staff every time I step into my leadership role.
