l lead on key areas of work as part of the University’s commitment to attracting the most able students from the most diverse backgrounds. This includes the management of flagship widening participation interventions and working with schools and colleges in target areas to generate applications and intake to the University. I work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver generalist and subject specific outreach activities in line with the University’s strategy for student recruitment and widening participation, as outlined in our Access and Participation Plan. I also manage the School Governance Network; a space for university staff to learn from one another, share best practice, and co-create governance solutions to support the local educational community of Bristol.

Responsible for:- The establishment and delivery of a programme of curriculum-linked educational resources which are suitable for primary students through to secondary and further education.- Development of a diverse programme of Education and Public Engagement which included public sanctuary tours, annual open days, school field trips, community visits and workshops, children’s holiday clubs, events to raise awareness, and more.- Following all necessary policies, operating procedures and safe working practices to ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines and legislation when working with children and vulnerable adults.- Managing the education budget appropriately and contributing to capital project fundraising through grant applications.- Working with external universities to arrange and manage undergraduate student work placements and work experience.- Collecting and collating data to supplement reports based on the impact we hoped to achieve with school groups. - Liaising with external educational bodies such as schools and universities to deliver subject specific outreach activites.

Responsibilities included:• Collection and organization of geospatial data relevant to the Department of Applied Sciences, specifically to support Environmental Science and Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. • Supporting the delivery of GIS tuition sessions with relevant academic staff. This may involve large class teaching or one-to-one support. • Providing ‘drop in’ GIS technical support for undergraduate and postgraduate student use – this may involve module coursework, project work, or indeed academic research. • Keeping up to date with emerging technology through the attendance of conferences and sharing of information – newsletters, etc. • Preparation of various equipment, materials, chemicals and instrumentation for practical environmental science laboratory classes as well as field trips and exercises. • Maintaining and calibrating specialist instrumentation for regular use within the laboratory and field setting. • Providing training and instruction for students and staff on specialist instrumentation within the laboratory. • Planning and supporting events such as open days and ambitions – raising the public profile of the university. • Writing and reviewing risk assessments to ensure high levels of safety throughout all practical work. • Ensuring that all health and safety standards and regulations (General Hazards, COSHH) are employed during all laboratory and field activities.

I assisted Senior Lecturers in the technical delivery of lab practicals with undergraduate students (first - third year) in a range of modules including Microbiology and Disease, Pathophysiology, and Demonstrating Skills for Biosciences. This role includes equipment preparation, demonstration and assisting students with their own work.

UWE BoxED is a school focused outreach programme of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related activities. The activities are designed for Years 5-9 (ages 9-13) and take place on school sites. The aim is to support schools in delivering engaging STEM content and keep students excited about STEM subjects. The program focussed on schools in areas that have low numbers of students progressing into higher education.My role entailed the development and management of the distribution of various 'boxes' or projects, and to liaise between student ambassadors and staff to ensure a high quality service is offered to schools and teachers.

Represented the Health and Life Sciences faculty during open days and outreach programmes, engaging with the public and often being left to run my own section. Liaised between students and lecturers to ensure high levels of student/teacher satisfaction.
