Along side my retail role as Assistant Store Manager, I am a Sustainability Guardian covering and looking after 8 stores across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. I provide assistance to each store in arranging volunteering with a variety of charities across the South West, help them gift their window display props to local causes and act as a go between for the store managers and the sustainability team at head office with any queries or issues they are facing.

I work closely with the Store Manager to lead a team of between 10-14 staff at Seasalt’s largest outlet store. Every day retail management duties included looking after the sales advisor team, drawing up their rotas and covering shifts. Daily cashing up and weekly banking, organising large sale events in a separate unit, managing high volumes of stock and often palette loads of delivery, and of course leading by example and providing best customer service. Budgeting, setting and measuring KPI targets and maintaining high standards throughout are essential skills I carried through this role. I worked hard at maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with other store managers and assistant managers as well as other departments at Head Office. I have attended area manager meetings in place of my store manager, and I get on well and have respect for our area manager as well as those in higher departmental roles.

Budgeting, setting and measuring KPI targets and maintaining high standards throughout were essential skills I carried through this role. I worked well with the assistant manager and the area manager as well as maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with other store managers and further management team at head office where I would attend monthly meetings.
