About Katherine Hapgood
Currently: I'm a journalist reporting on policy at the Center for Public Integrity. This past year I've published in Mother Jones, Washington City Paper, The Maine Monitor, The Center for Public Integrity, The Wash and the Boston Globe.Past: I'm a recent graduate of American University's M.A. of journalism and public affairs. While at AU, I worked as a student researcher for the investigative desk at the Washington Post and contributed to the Fatal Force data base and other projects and was a data fellow at the Center for Public Integrity. I also recently graduated from Boston University, where I studied journalism and chemistry. I've written for several publications including MetroWest Daily News, Milford Daily News, Brookline.news, the Boston Globe, the Alexandria Times and Civil Service World (UK). Recent projects: the repercussions of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act lapsing for the first time in 30 years, a months long investigation into the income gap in voter turnout, covered the New Hampshire primary for the Boston Globe, federal language access to elections, concern among the left of the tie between reproductive rights and democracy and the youth vote. When I'm not reporting: I enjoy running, hiking, going to concerts, exploring coffee shops around the DMV, traveling and playing recreational soccer!
