Farming has been my heart's passion for as long as I can remember. I was driving tractors before I could drive a vehicle. Raising animals and understanding their needs became so important and interesting to me. As the secretary, vice president, and president of the Greenbrier West High School FFA Chapter, the regional winner and state contestant for the FFA Scholastic Competition FFA Creed Speaking Contest, and as the second place winner of the FFA Scholastic Competition Prepared Speaking Contest, I diligently worked to pass this passion to my fellow students and encourage them to follow their dreams. I enjoy being around individuals who work in agricultural affairs, thus my reasoning for becoming a member of the West Virginia Cattlemen's Association and a board member of the Greenbrier County Chapter of the West Virginia Farm Bureau at only 19 years old. I work with others in these groups to choose the best courses of action that will best benefit fellow farmers and the public who rely on the products of agriculture. My desire is to give back to these individuals that have encouraged me and helped me to become the student and farmer that I am today by becoming a CPA and helping farmers in my community and surrounding areas with one of the most important and delicate areas of farming: finances.I was never enthusiastic about math during my years in middle and high school, but after taking my first accounting course in college, I became addicted to constantly reading my accounting textbook, asking my instructor endless questions about the accounting industry, and completing as many homework questions as I could. Helping others with their finances encourages me to become proficient in accounting and to be up to date on accounting guidelines, rules, and regulations. I want to make individuals' visits to the accountant's office a better experience than expected. Working with financial information in Microsoft Excel excites me, and analyzing data and graphs is thrilling. Above all, organization in these activities is of the utmost importance to me.I attend New River Community and Technical College, from which I will be graduating in May of 2020 with an Associate's degree in Business Administration. I will be attending West Virginia State University beginning in August of 2020 to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting. After graduation, I will sit for the CPA Exam to obtain my license.
