Recent graduate with my Master's degree in Fashion Studies at Parsons School of Design. My research centers the various modes through which individuals express belonging and group identity through the use of vintage style fashion on social media and digital spaces. I explore the intersection of various methodologies and theoretical frameworks including qualitative, anthropological analyses, the concept of "vintage" and subcultural style, and netnography in the digital space.Having also worked in a fashion study collection, I have experience with object based research and curatorial practice. While facilitation class visits to the collection, I acted as an educator on the history of fashion objects, basic textile conservation and handling, textile identification, and practical knowledge on garment construction. Additionally, my 15+ year knowledge in knitting, weaving and sewing allows me to engage with textiles and garments through a practice based approach. My work in the collection has also expanded my knowledge in administration. As a student assistant, I was responsible for assisting in the care of over 4,000 objects while facilitation cross-departmental communication to schedule visits to the archive. My strong background in researching and writing academic papers and curatorial proposals, I have not only submitted work for publication and publicly presented research, but I have also been able to work as a proofreader on two book projects while at Parsons, centering American fashion and the concept of care in fashion, that are not yet published. In addition to a deep passion for academic research, I am also integrally invested in the future of higher education and providing resources for community college, first generation, and non-traditional students to pursue academic research and further knowledge in the areas of the humanities and social sciences. As a non-traditional student myself who never dreamed I would one day attend university, much less earn a graduate degree, I seek to produce online digital content on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok that empowers students to reach their full potential both inside and outside of academia. After receiving my adult ADHD diagnosis, I aim to include advocacy and representation for neurodivergent students, sharing information and strategies to help fellow ND students work WITH their brains, not against!
