During my clinical rotations, I rotated through emergency departments, the operating room, wound clinics, pediatric offices, labor and delivery units, and intensive care units for neonatal and adult patients. Outside of my educational clinical experience I was a Student Nurse Intern at Hasbro Children’s Hospital for one year and Rhode Island Hospital for six months. Responsibilities during my time at Hasbro Children’s Hospital:- Obtain vitals on children a few days old up to 18 and older.- One to one observer for patients with psychiatric disorders or severe medical disorders. - Experience with de-escalation exercises and recognizing when a situation is going to escalate. - Experience with patients in critical care areas. o Patients who had head trauma requiring an external ventricular drain (EVD) were often the one to one patients I was assigned to from a medical stand point. I was responsible for maintaining their positioning, daily care and comfort, and reporting to the nurse if the drain needed to be rebalanced, or if there were any changes in patients’ conditions.- Worked with EPIC for patient reports and charting.
