Wrote a memorandum comparing and contrasting human trafficking of early 1900s America to modern-day human trafficking in India and Southeast Asia, based on my knowledge and experience combatting human trafficking while living in India and traveling regionally. This memorandum was one source of background research for the writing of The Locust Effect: Why the End of Poverty Requires the End of Violence, by Gary A. Haugen and Victor Boutros (2014).

Provided technical support to US and international anti-trafficking programs. Edited and drafted donor reports for submission to the U.S. Department of State. Drafted MOUs for WHI’s US and international programs. Supported the creation of the Church Mentorship Program. Provided leadership over the Give Hope A Name Contest. Represented WHI in the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST). Attended government and community events to cultivate relationships with anti-trafficking leaders and organizations.

Trained social workers, pastors, teachers, and lay people in groups of 12 to 140 people, using FAAST’s Hands That Heal: International Curriculum to Train Caregivers of Trafficking Survivors. Organized and led 3-day HTH trainings for churches, trafficking shelters, and organizations throughout the United States. Periodically reviewed and updated HTH training materials. Spoke at rallies and conferences throughout the US. Supervised interns and volunteers. Answered questions and provided information to constituents of World Hope International.

Led, and assisted in, preparation of minor victims of prostitution for court testimony. Researched and drafted memoranda on Indian laws and West Bengal laws regarding child labor and sex trafficking. Interviewed over a dozen West Bengal officials regarding enforcement of child labor laws and bonded labor laws. Drafted letters to labor, social welfare, and police officials. Wrote court petitions on behalf of minor victims. Supervised Legal Intern’s research of government benefits in West Bengal.

Researched and composed “Exploratory Assessment of Human Trafficking Cases under Non-Federal Jurisdictions in the United States of America.” Assisted in the development of a network of anti-trafficking attorneys in Latin America. Represented the OAS and the ABA at the ABA LALIC and Proyecto Contra La Trata De Personas Ecuador Student Conference on Human Trafficking in Guayaquil, Ecuador (November 2006).
