I support a 24 year old woman with complex visual impairments. My duties include supporting her to access the community, social events and volunteering positions. Each week I help her to develop her independent living skills such as cooking and financial awareness/skills, maintain a healthy lifestyle through attending the gym, swimming and walking her dogs and help her to engage with interests and peers such as pub quiz's, spiritual events and visiting her partner and friends.

Working in a long term rehabilitation unit for residents ages 18 - 65 with complex and enduring mental health conditions being discharged from secure psychiatric care. My role with this organisation is to facilitate and support residents in skill development, daily activities and participation/reintegration into the local community.

I graduated this course in 2013 after gaining a first class hons degree. Throughout my time studying Creative Expressive Therapies (Art Pathway), I gained a solid and varied grounding of both practical and theoretical uses of the arts in healthcare and how this can hold benefits for individuals in a variety of differing situations. Throughout this course aspects such as: Effective Interaction, Working Creatively with People, Coaching, Nature of Evidence and Interpersonal Development have been studied - all of which have allowed me to further myself personally and develop my professional identity and self of self and others in relation to this.Throughout this course, I also gained practical experience in group facilitation and co-facilitation of arts based workshops for children and young adults with a diagnosis of Autism and adults with complex mental health problems. Experience has also been gained of facilitating creative workshops in outdoor settings, allowing a different media base and re-connection to natural processes and healing aspects this can hold in relation to different individuals needs and creative processes.

I worked at this establishment during many of the busiest nights of the week and the year. My role included having a wide knowledge of spirits, cocktails and beers. I also had to demonstrate quick, polite and efficient service to customers, cash handling and diplomatic qualities such as conflict resolution, communication and patience.
