As a CNA, caring for the patient is one of the most important parts of the job. But taking the time to bond with those patients and making them feel heard, important, loved, as independent as possible, and as competent as possible is just as important. Often times patients have no family or friends to support them and care for them, so it is very important that they make long lasting bonds with their CNA’s because we become family to them and their primary caregivers. It is also important that as a CNA we make sure patients have a good quality of life at the end of their life.I absolutely loved this job, but my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months before the end of my employment, in which time I requested to be moved to a call in basis (I would fill in for other CNA’s who called in sick or if they needed an extra CNA that day) so I could care for my mother and take her to appointments. I was also a full time student during this time and could not keep up with my school work while taking care of my mother and going to work so I was sadly not able to go back to work at that time.

I created customers, took orders, served drinks, served orders, and also cooked orders. Cleaned dining areas after customers were done. Checked customers out. Washed dishes. My favorite part of this job was seeing the regulars and how approciative they were.
