My teaching career began in Edinburgh, Scotland where I taught French at a high-achieving independent school for 5 years. I then moved abroad to China and became part of the first cohort of teachers at Wellington College, Tianjin, where I taught French and EAL and was Housemistress. I then taught for six years at the British International School in Shanghai, where I demonstrated highly effective leadership skills in the English as an Additional Language Department (Whole School). I have considerable experience teaching children in both middle and secondary school and have a proven track record of excellent results in IGCSE ESL exams, IB (English B) as well as preparing pupils for the internationally-recognised Cambridge English exams (KET, PET and First for Schools etc). I am adept at managing mixed-ability classes and focus greatly on using scaffolding techniques in order to create a positive and productive learning environment. I am licensed to deliver the NASSEA Language, Literacy and Learning course to teachers, which incorporates many of these techniques, as well as differentiation.As Head of Year previously, I have shown a commitment to supporting the well-being of pupils and have been responsible for the pastoral care of over 100 pupils. I have organized and led school trips to locations such as Hainan, Inner Mongolia and a language immersion program in Paris. In 2019 - 2020, I completed a one-year sabbatical cover position at the International School of Geneva where I taught English and Humanities to middle school pupils on the French bilingual program in Years 7 and 8. In Sept 2020, I started teaching EAL and humanities to year 5 pupils at the International School of Geneva. I also coordinate a team of teachers in the Y5 English Language Programme.
