Entering the world of motherhood may bring new life, yet it is the time most mothers feel alone. For the last five years, I have facilitated a new mothers’ support group. First, I joined our local hospital’s New Mom’s Connection group in 2015. In 2018, I joined a broader peer support group, Compass, that covered families in the transition of pregnancy, postpartum, and infancy facing mental health and lifestyle changes. As my children have grown, so has my involvement. Besides my active role in Compass, I joined Postpartum Support International’s Coordinator Program for the areas in Oregon. In October of 2019, I was elected as Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Policy Council Chair.
