I worked closely with the global senior executive team in the UK, US and Asia and assisted in the matrix management and leadership of over 200 staff worldwide and a budget of $135m. I also produced new business (retail and wholesale), developed board level client relationships across the industry and was instrumental in growing the business four fold, in just 3 years.

As a business development executive in the global retail division I worked with the sales leader to establish and implement our growth strategy. My responsibilities included developing a sales pipeline, managing new business enquiries, responding to tenders, presenting to clients, writing reports and promoting cross sales within JLT. Prior to this, I was a Client Executive within the power team where I was an Account Executive & broker; responding to tenders and managing all lines of business for major global clients including Centrica and National Grid. This involved coordinating all the resources of JLT to meet the client’s requirements, leading the placement team, managing the renewal process, developing relationships with major insurers and keeping up to date with the industry.

Managing the power and utility team from an operational angle I designed and implemented working practices to maximise efficiency and improve client service as well as being an account executive for key power clients. I managed the budget and was on the committee to improve working practices across the UK operations. I also developed a portfolio analysis tool that was used extensively to demonstrate our experience, provide benchmarking, leverage insurer relationships and support broking arguments. I rolled this system out to Marsh offices in London, Paris, Zurich and Munich.

Working closely with the software developers I was involved in designing the project scope for a document management system and data analysis tool for the insurance sector. As part of a small team at a start up company I was involved in many aspects of the business including budgeting and forecasting, researching the market and developing marketing campaigns. I also enjoyed presenting our products to clients, listening to their requirements and developing tailored system scopes and costing proposals.

I was responsible for processing client data, management of global fronting programmes, arrangement of reinsurance and analysis of the portfolio for capacity and aggregate management and financial reporting purposes.

As a junior broker my role included the preparation of slips and market presentations, broking to both London and European markets and organisation and hosting of client visits and meetings.
