It’s hard to sum up my career in a single sentence. After becoming the first person in my family to graduate college, I joined the U.S. Navy, where I earned a Letter of Commendation for my service on the USS George Washington. Then, I gained operations and finance experience in highly regulated, security-first environments. Finally, I transitioned to retail store leadership positions, where I oversee hundreds of people, programs, processes, and policies. I lead with empathy and a solutions-focused mindset. A good leader should understand the challenges facing each employee, take steps to resolve them, role-model good work ethic, and lead from the front. I never ask anyone to do something I wouldn’t do myself. The most fulfilling aspect of my job is human resources, where I have the opportunity to help, inform, or empower people in new ways every day. My responsibilities encompass nearly every type of HR domain, which allows me to flex in response to change, build relationships across departments and functions, and adapt my own role to meet the needs of the employees I serve. Career Highlights:✔ EMPLOYEE ADVOCACY: I take steps to improve the employee experience, which results in longer-tenured professionals, reduced recruitment needs, and a happier workplace culture. At Lowes Foods and Star Market, I went above-and-beyond to champion employee-focused changes, award competitive raises, and offer opportunities for continued education.✔ SUCCESSION PLANNING: A big part of my advocacy efforts is placing employees in roles where their strengths can shine the brightest. I excel at identifying and nurturing leadership qualities in my staff. In my current role at Lowes, I’ve promoted nearly a dozen people to leadership roles in recognition of their excellent performance. ✔ PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: When I’m not managing people operations, I spend time consulting with department leaders on strategies to improve their daily processes. Over time, I’ve implemented changes that reduced shrink, strengthened health and safety policies, improved PTO and benefits offerings, and enhanced store profitability.
