Katherine K. Dahlsgaard, Ph.D. ABPP is a licensed psychologist, consultant, and public speaker. She is the former Clinical Director of the Anxiety Behaviors Clinic (ABC), the Picky Eaters Clinic, and the Food Allergy Bravery Clinic at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She specializes in cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) of anxiety and related disorders, with particular emphasis on exposure-based interventions.She particularly specializes in treatment of anxiety related to food allergies, and is the co-developer of the Scale for Food Allergy Anxiety (SOFAA), the first validated questionnaire specific to the assessment of anxiety in the context of food allergies. This scale is free to clinicians and researchers to use and may be downloaded here: chop.edu/sofaa Dr. Dahlsgaard has an extensive background in research. She worked for two years with Dr. Aaron T. Beck on an NIH funded study of suicide prediction and prevention, as a treatment provider on studies of depression prevention in school-aged children, as a parent group leader in a treatment study of anxiety in adolescents, and led a longitudinal study investigating character strengths and their relation to well-being among middle school students. While at NYU, Dr. Dahlsgaard led empirically-supported group therapy treatments of social phobia for adolescents. At CHOP, she taught psychiatry fellows and psychology interns in cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques and supervised their CBT cases. A recipient of a National Science Foundation Fellowship award, Dr. Dahlsgaard is a frequent lecturer and guest speaker and has published widely in scientific journals and books on the topics of child development, psychopathology, mental health, and human virtue.
