Accomplishments include: • Created and evaluated 3 iterations of an exhibit at the Hatfield Marine Science Center Visitor Center • Monitored 30 hours of visitor interactions with the exhibit using Cyberlab video and audio tools in conjunction with surveys to gauge changes in visitor perception of the deep seaSTAKEHOLDER SURVEYS: Collaborated with a multidisciplinary team including applied economists, deep-sea biologists, state agencies, and NGOs to assess public perception of the deep sea. Accomplishments include: • Led two focus groups to inform the creation of a socio-economic valuation survey and an exhibit. • Designed and administered 100 questionnaires and 36 interviews to measure perception changes. SCIENCE COMMUNICATION & INTERPRETATION: Used Adobe Premiere Pro and Illustrator to distill highly technical deep-sea science into a three-part exhibit at the Hatfield Marine Science Center which welcomes 150,000 visitors annually.LABORATORY MANAGEMENT: Jointly responsible for coordinating lab hours and activities, supervising two undergraduate lab assistants, supply purchasing, and amplifying 600 DNA samples.
