CurrentKatherine DeFoyd, founder of Growth for Good and co-founder of Search for Good, has more than 20 years’ experience as a fundraising professional. She has been involved with every facet of fundraising. She has led clients successfully through strategic planning processes, capital campaigns and annual campaigns, and has vast experience in developing and managing public/private partnerships. Katherine has helped dozens of New York City based non-profits secure more than $100 million in funding since 1999. Katherine co-founded, Search for Good, because its staff recognize that talent moves mission. The approach is straightforward. Search for Good dives deep into an organization’s history, success, challenges, and current financial position to determine just who that organization needs to best accomplish its goals. In looking for the perfect candidate, Search for Good leaves no stone unturned, advertising broadly. Before founding Growth for Good, Katherine worked as development director for The Armory Foundation, MOUSE Inc., and The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service (NYU), and The Bertelsmann Foundation. Katherine began her career at the Mayor's Office of Business Development, under Mayor Edward I. Koch. She helped found the Mayor's Office of Public/Private Partnerships under Mayor David N. Dinkins. She also worked for Borough President Ruth Messinger as Director of Events and Outreach. Katherine has a BA in Economics from San Francisco State University and a Masters of Public Administration from the Wagner School of Public Service at NYU. Katherine is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). She is the author of four cookbooks, one of which won the James Beard Award in 1998. She lives with her husband and two nearly perfect adolescents in Maplewood, NJ.
