Katherine Gaffney is CFO of TRIPP, a wellness start-up focused on creating mood-altering experiences using generative AI in XR. A CFO, Advisor, and Investor to several high-growth, venture-backed technology companies with proven success in facilitating organizational change through strategic planning, financial management, and operational structures.Katherine started Startup CFOs, a CFO consulting firm in 2011, and has helped hundreds of startups raise capital and grow over the last ten years. Some of her clients have included Tripp, Hydros, Unest, Two Bit Circus, PlayQ, Crexi, Directech Labs, HopSkipDrive, Ozobot, DogVacay, Hutch, Spring, and Headspace. She has also supported many acquisitions for her clients including Wallaby to Bankrate, Wheel App to Tinder, and Allsay to NewsBeat. Prior to her CFO consulting practice, the majority of her career has been spent with digital media technology startups within larger organizations, Sony Digital Entertainment and 20th Century Fox. She was also Head of Finance and Strategy at a Healthcare SAAS division of Hearst and guided their growth to 3.5x, to over $100M. At Sony, she had financial leadership of businesses within Sony Pictures and SCA overseeing Game Studio, Mobile, and Connect Entertainment, subscription and pay-per based business models. Within her capacities, she presented financial performance and critical matters, and solicited funding for new initiatives from the Hearst and Sony executive teams.Gaffney holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Business, a CPA from the state of California, and was the first Founder Institute scholarship recipient. Her passion is to create a better future through the use of new technologies, in addition to promoting female entrepreneurship.
