My PhD has been focused on elucidation of nitrite toxicity and nitrite metabolism in alpha-proteobacteria to further the understanding of microbial nitrosative stress response. I have cultured Paracoccus denitrificans sp PD1222 by batch and chemostatic culture. Techniques include the detection of metabolic intermediates by gas and high pressure liquid chromatography, transcriptional analysis using type II microarray and qRT-PCR, cellular culturing and phenotyping and the generation of deletion mutations.I have delivered presentations and presented papers of my work at external events including the N-Cycle conference in 2011 & 2012. I have presented and chaired for the Early Career Scientist workshop ICoN2/ENC, and organised the Molecules and Pathways theme seminar series at the Norwich Research Park.
