Profile bio

About Katherine Hatcher

I earned my Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2020. My dissertation research examined the impact of environmental exposures on women’s health, including menopause symptoms. My research primarily focused on phthalate exposure, a class of endocrine disruptors known to impact human health. My graduate research led to 4 first author publications.I am familiar with a vast array of biomedical research methods, including quantitative data analysis. I have personally performed many biomedical techniques throughout my graduate studies and into my current role as a postdoctoral researcher. I am also continuing to gain experience with qualitative research methods, including surveys, to examine public health research questions.I have strong interpersonal skills and am extremely comfortable taking initiative and mentoring others. My dissertation research included 2 highly collaborative research projects, where I worked very closely with senior level researchers. I have served in many leadership roles where I collaborated with diverse teams to reach a mutual goal.I have demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication skills. I have presented my research to top researchers in my field at international conferences, industry professionals at regional conferences, and the public at outreach events. I have spoken to the media, including providing quotes for Shape magazine, as well as being interviewed for top podcasts (including Ologies by Alie Ward). I even developed my own podcast (Endocrine Disruptors podcast), where I interviewed researchers and disseminated complex concepts for public understanding.I am committed to working with various stakeholders involved in environmental and public health issues, including bio-tech companies, government agencies, public health individuals, and scientists. As a researcher, I have worked with multiple divisions within the NIH to ensure the delivery of high-quality biomedical research. From my experience, I recognize that solving diverse public health issues requires investment across multiple aisles. Throughout my time as a researcher, I have developed strong analytical skills. I have switched directions in my research due to funding changes or new positions, which required rapid acquisition of large fields of research. This often then required me to be able to explain my understanding to my colleagues or students whom I was mentoring. I am excited by the opportunity to quickly acquire and disseminate new knowledge.

Listed skills include Research, Teaching, Community Outreach, Leadership, and 7 others.
