After years of personal writing, dabbling in poetry, rabid reading, and education with a creative bent, it is no wonder that I ended up in a career in the writing industry. My first taste of publication was an article in the London Free Press about a journey I took through Africa. Seeing my bi-line was thrilling, but it wasn't until a friendly suggestion to start a blog several years later that my writing really took off. Today, I use those skills daily. My BA in English from York University, and the Creative Writing Professional Certificate classes at the University of Western's Continuing Studies program have helped, but it is the constant reading, writing, researching, and editing that have honed those skills. I am a contributing writer for several local businesses' websites, including CLC Tree Services, Load of Rubbish, Revival Home Renovations, and Acme Animal. Former clients include Iron Rhino (Digital Marketing Agency), Budding Artists (locally hand-designed products made by children), a local real estate agent and his blog 'In Your Neighbourhood', an online upscale baby boutique Babybox.com, and others. For many of these clients, I offer content curation as well, including updating Facebook feeds, Instagram, and regular tweeting. Some companies only utilize my social media marketing services, including Ambrose Plumbing and Rouge Boutique. Other companies have gone the route of handling their social media accounts themselves, but have hired me to write proposals for how to personally increase their online presence. Overall, I assess a company's needs and offer what I can to help them thrive. When they are successful, I also succeed and gain satisfaction from that. This encourages me to be open to new relationships and proposals, as you never know where inspiration might come from next. My bestselling travel memoir 'Roughing it in Africa' was published in June 2021 and shot to #1 in several categories, including African Travel Guides, Family Travel Guides, and several African countries' travel guides that I visited over the ten months I was in Africa. My publishing journey isn't at an end though. While I keep on marketing this book, I have another one on the go. That's what writers do, and I am proud to wear that hat too.
