Leading the Content Moderation Working Group -- facilitating an ongoing working group integrating industry, academic, civil society, and policy stakeholders to advance knowledge around the operational work of content moderation. Our primary goal is to produce concrete output for public engagement/education through the development of common vocabulary, frameworks, and annotated datasets, in addition to best practices for Trust & Safety work.

Assist targets or prospective targets of online harassment, stalking, and other distressing online events in threat modeling increasing security measures, protecting privacy and reputation, and providing peer mental health support. Clients include journalists, social media influencers (Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc), professionals in the game/tech industry, and other private individuals targeted by online harassment campaigns/targeted attacks/stalking/doxxing.Certified in Psychological First Aid from John Hopkins University. Services provided free of charge.Worked with OnlineSOS, Crash Override, and Rise Above the Disorder to assist clients.

UX, content moderation, online harassment consulting. Clients include: Urban Dictionary, Tall Poppy, OnlineSOS, the UN International Labour Organization, and undisclosed industry organizations.

Working with Paul Dourish in the Laboratory for Ubiquitous Computing and Interaction-- studying emerging forms of community formation, norm development and maintenance, and moderation in online platforms. Additional research on organizational and cultural contexts of technology development. Much of this work is in support of technology-supported collective action for marginal and underserved communities. Initial research supported by the NSF GRFP Fellowship.

Computational Linguistics. Investigating machine learning methods for distinguishing author voices in collaborative papers. Work includes extensive literature review, developing and testing prototypes that identify anomalies in author voice using different methods.Working under Dr. Judith Olson in the Department of Informatics.

Researching virtual worlds and video games with Dr. Bonnie Nardi in the Informatics Department of UCI.Investigating the role of mechanical devices (e.g., game controllers, keyboards, mice, etc) in user experience of software. Currently examining how players discuss, teach, and learn mastery or experience of physical aspects of gaming over online forums.

I volunteer a ton of time as a moderator (on Reddit, Facebook, Discord, etc, with community sizes between 5-150k+) to inform my research of online communities and also because I care about them a lot. :VAdvise and assist online community moderators and community managers on executing moderation best practices and community rehabilitation. Volunteering with the Fair Play Alliance, a group of game companies, organizations, and researchers to develop and disseminate moderation best practices.

Volunteer Staff for the Talent Relations Department for Comic-Con International. Coordinate security and CCI volunteers to escort A-list talent to holding rooms, press events, and TV interviews. Liaison for various entertainment companies and celebrities during the largest pop-culture convention in the country. Collaborate with talent and publicists planning spontaneous events during the convention.

Working on research for the Protect and Care team at Instagram/Facebook

Acquired $25,000 in funding for workshops series at two high schools in California, designed a curriculum for a 4 week computing workshop series for high school girls in underserved communities, recruited, trained and led a team of paid undergraduate mentors, led workshops series in Richmond, CA, and co-led collection of data for research on CS education. Built curriculum for and led mentorship training programs for the AspireIT, Explore ICS, and IgniteCS diversity programs at UC Irvine. Advised and co-organized AspireIT, Explore ICS, and IgniteCS programs alongside the Women in Information and Computer Sciences organization at UC Irvine.

Manage accounts with game developers, coordinate diversity and advocacy initiatives.

Founded and organized the init(together) conference for young women considering or starting careers in computing. 350+ women across Southern California attended.- Secured over $17,000 in funds through sponsors and ticket sales for the conference- Recruited and interfaced with companies to assemble a career expo with booths from software engineering companies including Google, Microsoft, Twitter, IBM, Intel, EMC, Scopely, OKCupidLabs.- Recruited speakers and panelists from various areas of computing industry and academia, including Twitter, Google, Microsoft, startup and makerspace founders- Assembled and organized the conference program and schedule- Booked and organized location, catering, materials, bags/shirts, swag, conference documentation- Trained and organized a team of 12+ volunteers from the UC Irvine Women in Information and Computer Sciences Organization to assist in organizing and running the day-long event- Organized and led outreach and awareness of event among universities, student groups, and organizations in Southern California, including online presence through website and social media, fliers and posters, as well as personal communication through university departments.- Facilitated a mentorship event between industry/academic professionals in computing and young women interested in the field, currently organizing a long-term mentorship program.

Taught after-school workshops to 2nd and 4rd grade children on topics related to science and engineering.
