As a member of the Special Events & Experiences team within the Philanthropy Advancement department at UNICEF USA, I managed the Fundraiser & Event Program, supporting third-party events and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts hosted on behalf of UNICEF. In this contract role, I successfully exceeded the Community Fundraising revenue goal, achieving $1.7 million against a target of $600,000. I also developed a comprehensive stewardship plan, including recognition and cultivation strategies for UNICEF supporters using the UUSA Community Fundraising program. Additionally, I tracked and analyzed the results of programs and fundraising campaigns to assess efficiencies and develop strategic directions for goal setting throughout the fiscal year.

I empowered families impacted by rare diseases to give voice to patient preferences, risk perception, and decision-making. As a social scientist, I utilized a public health lens to leverage my domestic and international experience in community-based participatory research to build grassroots partnerships. I applied innovative mixed-method research techniques to collect and analyze patient experience data.As a mixed methods social scientist within the Center for Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Translational Research, my primary work focused on patient experience and decision-making research related to treatment outcomes and programs implementing expanded newborn screening for rare pediatric conditions. - Managed relationships with 8 pediatric rare disease advocacy organizations and foundations, including developing and implementing contracts, proposals, and project management plans. Authored quarterly reports for 7 projects focused on rare childhood diseases and co-authored 13 manuscripts published in high-impact journals. - Curated tailored assets and materials for clients, including resources, communication assets, webinars, forums, and presentations, representing the organization at annual meetings and conferences to report outcomes.Areas of focus: patient preferences, decision-making, rare pediatric diseases, Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophies (DBMD), Sanfilippo Syndrome, GM1 gangliosidosis, HIV/AIDS, Lipedema, Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), newborn screening.

Selected as 1 of 18 Global Citizenship Fellows from over 1600 applicants for a 13-month Fellowship. Developed and delivered educational tools, talks, and resources to schools, universities, volunteers, elected officials, faith-based communities, advocates, and others to empower the Houston community to act locally. Utilized several U.S. Fund for UNICEF initiatives, including Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Congressional Action Teams, and the End Trafficking project.

Coordinated several studies with Sodzo International. Prepared for work in Kenya by writing the Manual of Procedures and developing a questionnaire for a cross-sectional study in rural Kenya. Created Epi Data forms for data entry. Spent several months in Kenya training and managing field workers and data entry clerks in research techniques and quality assurance, while maintaining communication between the U.S. and Kenya offices. Conducted an analysis using photovoice data and developed a photo book depicting the shared experiences of orphans and vulnerable children in rural Kenya.

Implemented Curriculum-Based Support Groups for over 250 junior high and high school students. Conducted client risk and protective factor assessments for over 160 students, providing appropriate referrals to substance abuse treatment facilities. Coordinated and delivered community and school-based presentations and alternative activities focused on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Lived and worked in a rural community in Malawi, Sub-Saharan Africa. Partnered with community leaders and organizations to ensure the sustainability of health programs and projects. Conducted a needs assessment for a community of nearly 10,000 Malawians and developed educational materials and training on HIV/AIDS, family planning, youth empowerment, hygiene, and business development. Additionally, wrote USAID and Small Project Assistance grants for the construction of pit latrines and a community pre-school.

During my senior semester as an intern, I worked closely with the health education department on several of their initiative. Educated food facilities using the Healthy Restaurant Program using nutrition and environmental measures set by the Healthy Howard Initiative. In addition, I secured restaurant vendors for The Men’s Health and Wellness Fair of Howard County. I created and implemented lectures on chronic disease to adults at the YMCA of Central Maryland.

I formulated and taught an after-class curriculum, including study guides, practice tests and handouts for 35 students in anatomy and physiology.
