I develop and manage content and campaigns from start to finish for Cayman's multiple services divisions and cancer, immunology & inflammation, infectious disease, cell biology, epigenetics, and kinase inhibitor product lines. I conducted my graduate research in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Klionsky to better understand the molecular mechanism and regulation of autophagy in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.- Conducted independent research into the roles of vacuolar proteases in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, resulting in a first-author publication in Molecular Biology of the Cell.- Developed expertise in genetic manipulation of yeast, including deletion and insertion mutagenesis via transformation.- Developed expertise in experimental design and molecular and cellular biology techniques, including western blot, cloning and PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, yeast alkaline phosphatase assay, and fluorescence microscopy.- Established new biochemical methods for use in the laboratory, including the Carboxypeptidase Y enzymatic activity assay.- Authored a review article on vacuolar hydrolysis in yeast that has been submitted for publication.- Authored a review article on the molecular mechanisms and regulation of mammalian autophagy that was published in Antioxidants and Redox Signaling.- Trained and mentored two graduate students and two undergraduate students in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and data analysis.- Developed expertise in science communication through completion of the NSF Science Communication Fellows Program at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History and the RELATE (Researchers Expanding Lay-Audience Teaching and Engagement) science communication workshop.- Completed a Graduate Teacher Certificate through the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT); included participation in workshops on inclusive teaching principles, engaging and motivating students, responding to microaggressions in the classroom, and understanding how stereotype threat and growth mindset affect student learning.

Graduate student instructor for Biology 172 (Introductory Biology). Responsibilities included leading discussion sections aimed at in-depth analysis and application of concepts covered in lectures, assisting students one-on-one during office hours, and assessment of student progress through grading of assignments and exams.

Graduate student instructor for Biology 207 (Introductory Microbiology). The course was comprised of a lecture component and a laboratory component. I led students in the laboratory component, composed quizzes and instructional materials, and graded laboratory assignments and lecture-based exams.

RELATE is a training-service initiative that unites specific instruction in lay-audience communication with outreach opportunities designed to connect with and communicate scientific research to local communities. The program was co-founded by Katie Prater and Elyse Aurbach. Along with Brooke Horton, I cultivated and maintained a social media presence for RELATE on Twitter and Facebook and organized outreach events.
