Assisted in managing a $6.2 million Student Energy Internship and Fellowship Program within the Energy Division of the North Carolina Department of Commerce that supports 500 internships and fellowships in North Carolina. Ensured individual internship programs remained in compliance with the 2009 Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as well as the State Energy Program, and documented compliance record for Federal auditing purposes. Effectively reported grant project financial and narrative data on monthly and quarterly deadlines to Energy Division Senior management. Increased competency in renewable energy technologies through research and tracking energy data for legislative policy tracking, economic development initiatives, internal division activities and general outreach. From 2009 through 2012 the Green Economy Office, as a part of the NC Department of Commerce, lead economic development initiatives in the six areas of biofuels, solar, plug in electric vehicles, general energy efficiency, smart grid technology and wind at the North Carolina Department of Commerce. I supported the specific areas of offshore wind development, biofuels, and renewable energy industry recruitment and incentives

I worked with education leaders in both public and private education programs provided by the North Carolina Zoo. When working with public programs, I organized educational day camps at the Zoo, and the lesson plans used in camp. When working with private programs I researched specific topics ranging from climate change to endangered amphibian species. The lesson plans were organized into packets made available to public school teachers who attended North Carolina Zoo workshops. In all, I worked with children of age groups pre-k to fifth grade, as well as local teachers.
