Katherine Ruiz, AIA, LEED AP, SITES AP, received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame and achieved her Licensure in 2015. Katherine has served as a sustainability specialist and is responsible for completing the LEED Certification of over two million square feet of project space. In 2017, she was one if the first in the country and the first architect in Texas to earn the SITES Accredited Professional credential. Her expertise includes indoor air quality and materials research, daylighting studies, and resource-efficient design. She has presented on a variety of sustainability topics to better educate the building industry on how design can be environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable. She actively served within AIA Houston as a member of the Disaster Resilience Taskforce, a member of the 2020 Visions Exhibition Committee, the Chair for the Gulf Coast Green Conference & Expo, the COTE Committee Chair, and as a founding and Advisory Council member of the Houston JE:DI Collective (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity).
