Born with a hot pink ice-cream spoon in my mouth, but rejected it in total objection to the current state of things in our world. Creative Studio (Art Department) Management: I was responsible for the full scope of art/design/copywriting needs. This included design for print and web - merchandising display units, product packaging (components, unit cartons, gift sets etc), marketing materials for both b2b and b2c purposes, presentations, graphic assets, product photography, sell sheets, training manuals, catalog design, websites, social media and website visual assets (sliders, product shots, promos), product development, and marketing strategy.Online Marketing Development: I maintained, enhanced and lead the development of new e-commerce sites for several beauty brands in their portfolio, managed and designed the email campaigns to drive e-commerce sales, and developed social media systems for each brand. -
Owner / DesignerJet The Pilot (A Retail Boutique & Workshop) Jan 2009 - Aug 2011Jet The Pilot was a character based brand for the youth market. I designed, launched and operated a brick and mortar boutique in LA where customers were able to engage with the character by entering into her "world" and interact with customizable merchandise. One could use Jet The Pilot designs to transfer onto apparel, tote-bags, stationery, and wall decals. Other products were also available for purchase which related to the story and made the customer feel part of the Jet The Pilot world.The work for this included concept, branding, design, website design and development, marketing, pr, product development and manufacturing, plotter-cutter and heat press operations, store management, merchandising, web design/development, interior and exterior store design.This boutique was a living art piece, attracting the attention of local press and known as a must-see destination for vistors to the area. It was part of the initial rise of small-businesses in the now infamous Highland Park neighborhood, nestled perfectly in the middle of the two most popular shopping blocks. It was closed due to personal reasons.

It began with DIY t-shirts sold at special events:1. Buy a blank t-shirt or hoodie, or bring your own garment.2. Use Jet Plain patches & heat transfers to create your own design.3. Each design you add raises money for a charitable cause in YOUR community.The goal was to bridge the gap between fun and philanthropy for the youth market. In this time I developed a line of customizable apparel and accessories for the tween and teen market as well as media for investor interests and marketing purposes.This was my first startup company and involved all the usual responsibilities: business planning, R&D, fundraising, product design and development, sourcing and manufacturer negotiations, brand positioning, creative direction, sales and marketing, web design, content design, event planning, affliate agreements, and general team management and leadership.It failed due to classic startup reasons - inexperience, lack of sufficient funds, lack of mentorship, partnership disputes, and putting too many horses before too many carts. Valuable life/business lessons. No regrets.
