I am mostly working as an assistant teacher in one of the classes at Venture Academy. This teaches transitional living skills to SpEd students ages 18-22 years.

Substitute teacher, grades K-8

*I have taught: 1) elementary and middle school students as the assigned classroom teacher in multiple subjects, and single subjects such as Language Art, American History, and Art 2) college students in methodology courses for teaching multiple subjects and language arts, then I observed and evaluated the application of teaching strategies within the classroom 3) class groups of home-schooled students in all levels K- high school, and have served as a support system to their parents as needed*I am currently substitute teaching for public and private schools in grade levels K-8, all subjects* I design lessons, study units, and learning activities aligned with required curriculum standards

I am a substitute teacher whenever needed. I taught part time art and religious studies lessons "Seasons of the Church". These lessons integrated history information and art projects at different times of the year determined by the Christian church calendar. I organized American studies classes for a group of visiting foreign exchange middle school students. During the summer they let me I teach two enrichment classes there which I especially enjoy. One on creative writing and another on drawing and painting". I had 4-6 graders who did great!

I have subbed at St. John's Lutheran School whenever available. Although our family has active membership at another Lutheran church, we enjoy visiting St. John's occasionally. Many kids from our home congregation have been enrolled at the elementary/middle school as students and the parents hold it in high regard. After subbing at St. John's and seeing the school day firsthand, I also have positive thoughts about the school. I wouldn't mind having a fulltime teaching position there. I hope subbing helps us become acquainted for that purpose.

In 2003, I decided to resign from teaching methodology courses and supervising student teachers so I could home school my three sons (ages 8, 6, and 4). I began home-schooling through a brand new PYLUSD program. With the school, as a volunteer, I started up an “academic day” so the students could gather together for cooperative learning, field trips, and extra-curricular activities. The subjects I chose to teach were history and writing skills. After the first year, numbers increased so I divided the group into two levels, primary and upper elementary. After enrolling my sons in a traditional middle- school, I still continued to volunteer-teach the classes. Since then, the Parkview Home-School Program has grown from an enrollment of 20 students to more than 120. Academic Day is now offering many more classes and activities. In 2011, I began getting paid by PYLUSD for the classes which previously taught voluntarily. I was asked to start up and teach an Honors Academic Day program with classes for middle-school students. In addition, I became an RTI teacher for middle-school and high-school students who were having difficulty with scoring up to level on standardized and benchmark tests. I also began as a substitute teacher for the school district. In June 2017, for the last 3 weeks of school I was requested by the district to teach 5 students separately from the rest of the students in Melrose Elementary School. In September 2017, I was requested as a long-term sub at the school for a teacher on medical leave to set up a class and start off the year for her second grade class. I am now substitute teaching for the district hoping for a full time teaching position in my own classroom.

In the Fall of 2014, I started a Literature/Composition class for 8-9th graders in a new home-school program. Most students were primarily GATE level. I loved teaching the class and had some parents asking about enrolling their students in the Fall; however, I couldn't teach it since I wanted to be available if a full time job became available.

1997-2003- After resigning from my full time job in Buena Park to start a family, one of the retired principals asked if I wanted to work part time for her at National University. I had a lot of previous experience being a Master Teacher in Buena Park, choosing and writing literature units for the district, and leading workshops on teacher enrichment days. I became a college course instructor and student teacher advisor for National University; Costa Mesa, CA.Classes which were taught included CLD 630A, B, C, & D (student teaching), CLD 621B (methodology for K-8th grade reading and Language Arts Instruction), CLD 622A (Strategies for teaching K-8th grade History, Social Science, Fine Arts, & P.E.),. CLD 600 Early Field Experience. Duties also included: observing, evaluating, and advising student teachers, interviewing potential teachers and keeping current on state curriculum standards and teaching strategies.

1986-1995- I began as a student teacher and they hired me as a regular classroom teacher at Gilbert School, Buena Park, CA. I predominately taught grades 5, 6, and 5-6 combination.This assignment included: teaching all subjects to regular and mainstreamed students in a multiethnic/ multilingual classroom setting; being a member of district curriculum committees (i.e. History, Reading/Language Arts, Fine Arts); writing grant requests; designing and implementing a school-wide fine arts program; organizing and directing school-wide plays and programs; developing district-wide literature units; serving as a master teacher for student teachers and interns; contributing input as a member of the Student Intervention Team; teaching colleagues about curriculum and ideas at staff meetings. After resigning from my regular, full-time teaching position to start a family, I occasionally volunteered at the school for awhile with the LD special needs and RSP kids.. From 1995-1996- as a volunteer, Grades K-6, Gilbert School, Buena Park, CA. duties continued to include teaching “Project Read” to “at risk” students, being an active member of the Student Assistance Team (observing students and advising teachers about interventions), and teaching after-school arts and crafts classes.
