Completely restructured and rebuilt the accounting and finance department of this commercial real estate division of NorthStar Capital (REIT) as part of the spin off from Koll Companies, headquartered in Irvine, California. Selected and installed new accounting and property management software, hired staff, and handled the re-audit of 3 years of financial records for 1999 - 2001 for an attempted IPO.

Managed financial reporting, planning, financing, tax planning and compliance, and human resources for multi-family residential development, construction, and property management companies plus about 25 limited partnerships in major expansion mode. Directed the conversion to a new accounting system, a new property management system, and a new server to facilitate growth and improved reporting. Placed about $120,000,000 of debt and equity instruments.

Hired as tax manager for financial manager of newly-created portfolio of 155 distressed hotel loans, most of which would be converted to owned real estate. After one year, promoted to Senior Director, managing GAAP and tax reporting of about 100 limited partnerships and related management companies. Designed and implemented tax planning and reporting processes, hired staff, and assisted with refinancing $100,000,000 using securitized mortgage instruments.
