My name is Kathleen Acker. I graduated with a BS in Mathematics in 2023 and am currently a graduate student in Data Science at the University of Texas at Austin. I have found lots of joy and experience throughout my time in university, and have grown to find true passion for the curiosity in myself and in others, specifically through education and statistical modeling/analysis. I have spent a lot of the past 4 years working towards a teaching certification. I have worked countless hours conversing and serving students of all ages and walks of life, from 2nd grade science labs to student teaching high school pre-calculus and TA-ing postsecondary foundational mathematics courses. From this, I have expanded my breadths of fast paced problem solving, precise and knowledgeable communication, and skills in popular technological programs like Google Suites and Microsoft Office.While my passion for the curiosity in my students shines, I look to fuel my interests in statistics and data. Throughout my university studies, nothing has enhanced my curiosity more than the importance of statistics and its application to our real world. My multiple courses in statistics have led me to practices in programming such as R Studio and Python. Truthfully seeing mathematics that pertains to so many parts of our society enthrall me. I look to expand my practice and education in this field so that I may pursue my passions for math and its implementation. I thus look to continuing my education in Data Science and Analytics and hope to pursue this into a future career in the future.
