In this strategic leadership role, I was a member of the project coordination office's senior management team. I drove implementation of the HBP's outreach and partnering work in Europe and globally to strengthen and increase research collaborations in Europe in the fields of neuroscience, computing, and brain-related medicine; build robust innovation partnerships with industry; deepen collaborations with national funding agencies to enable more synergistic thinking and funding for collaborative research across boarders, and catalyse innovation (spin-outs, start-ups, publications etc). My role spanned communications, advocacy, partnerships, stakeholder relations, community building and resource mobilisation. I oversaw the development of communications strategies, built and cultivated relations with donors, worked with scientific teams to draft funding proposals, negotiated partnership agreements, organised diverse virtual and in person events to help cultivate communities in the diverse scientific areas of the project, supported internal campaigns to promote women in science and foster gender diversity in the scientific leadership, and ensured timely impact reporting our partners. With the fantastic support of of an amazing team, I led the organisation of several large-scale global events that brought together key stakeholders from across Europe and around the world to advance HBP's agenda including two global Summits and a major event at the European Parliament where HBP's scientists showcased key findings and deepened relations with national funding agencies and industry partners.Achievements100 new research collaborations; new project funding; the Summits served as an important mechanism for relationship building and the identification of new project opportunities; closer collaboration and coordination with the US Brain initiative

I joined the Human Brain Project at an exciting time, just as this 28 country/ 116 institution strong/ EURO 500 million investment was getting off the ground. As Industry and International relations manager I had the exciting role of facilitating partnerships between the HBP and industry with the goal of catalysing research and innovation. To do this, I worked closely with the scientific teams to identify target industries, segments and main market players and surveyed their R&D strategies. I built the overall value proposition for partnerships and defined promotional/engagement tools. Working with the project coordination team and scientists, I created an innovation-driven industry partnership strategy identifying markets/companies to engage. To build relations between companies and the project, I organised events and ensured follow-up.I worked with the Tech Transfer officers of HBP's partner institutions to carry out initial negotiations, and put in place the administrative framework. Within three years, 20 industry partnerships were in place.
