There is nothing that inspires me more than driving patient safety activities through the planning and execution of corporate-wide, educational safety initiatives. As a Risk Manager Coordinator and nurse of 25 years, I have solid experience facilitating employee awareness of safety risk across the enterprise at Nemours. Having come up the ranks as a staff/OR nurse, I have a unique knowledge base and the ability to advance an institution’s safety goals. In collaboration with key leaders, we have fostered a culture of safety, transparency and urgency. But there’s always room for improvement.Our greatest priority is patient safety and I am deeply committed to serving as a role model, ambassador and advocate in both internal and external settings. Best known for seeking quality improvement activities—whether working collaboratively with department chairs, leading a committee tasked with safety initiatives or working as an OR nurse—I can be counted on to safeguard patients and their rights. My earlier experience centered on analyzing and setting up HMOs as well as working in a variety of nursing roles in hospital, home care, OR and community settings. Strategizing and rolling out best safety practices with rigor, discipline and accountability is at the core of our philosophy, especially with estimates rising to more than $100 billion in legal payouts and misdiagnoses becoming a major public health concern.
