Completing dental hygiene degree in preparation for 6/2018 graduation and receiving licensing as a registered dental hygienist.

I chose to make the transition from full-time working mom to stay at home mom before having my second child. Towards the end of this position, I started taking pre-reqs for dental hygiene in preparation for being accepted into BTC's fall 2016 program.

As the administrative assistant I provided support for the entire office but, more specifically, for the executive and service representative staff. I was responsible for completing timekeeping duties so that employees time off and work were recorded correctly for payroll. During my time there was a class of service representatives in training that I had to assist with. This included explaining procedure/policy, providing resources for gaining further knowledge and skill, and reviewing work completed. I was also the resource person for phone (malfunctioning) and/or office supply related issues.

The role of a service representative involved daily public service contact whether face-to-face in the office (walk-in or appointment) or over the phone. I was responsible for completing Social Security card applications, ordering replacement Medicare cards, enrolling and/or dis-enrolling people into Medicare, as well as setting up appointments for applications for Social Security retirement, disability, and Supplemental Security Income. In doing this I had to review records for credibility and make any corrections (such as earnings history) as necessary. A large part of this position involved problem solving and learning to find the answer on your own by reading policy and using available resources to find them.
