I taught a two semester course in algebra-based introductory physics for life science students, an upper level classical mechanics course and a sophomore-level mathematical methods course for physics majors, and an intermediate astronomy course for astronomy minors.I heavily modified the previous introductory physics curriculum to incorporate teaching techniques based on a rich history of education research in physics for life science students. The active learning strategies I implemented bring this two-semester course into the modern age of interdisciplinary STEM education.I incorporated additional active learning techniques into the pre-existing classical mechanics and mathematical methods curricula, drawing from successful iterations of the same courses conducted at the University of Colorado Boulder and California State University, Fullerton.I designed an intermediate astronomy course from the ground up with the purpose of improving students' scientific literacy, communication, and execution. I included assignments that blended observational astronomy with data analysis techniques, directly engaged students with recent scientific literature, and challenged them to communicate their literature findings in a plurality of formats.
