I managed a Department of Labor TAACCCT 3 grant and a Workforce Investment Council (WIC) grant for the Community College's Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning division, which provided the funding for my programming and my team. During my tenure, I revised the programming and curriculum, making it more relevant and improving opportunities for students to obtain employment. I created an Industry Council to provide programming guidance and began organizing career fairs on site, aimed at recruitment of our workforce development students. I also established a consortium for District of Columbia agencies providing workforce development programming, to come together to share ideas, strategies and educate one another on available programming to residents and evaluate how we could work together to maximize resources. Some outcomes of the grant included the development of a Building Information Modeling (BIM) course and lab; development of a construction lab to allow for hands on learning; and incorporation of OSHA 10 courses and an employment readiness course that included an industry recognized certification. Primary responsibilities included supervision of support staff and management of the Washington, DC office. I worked closely with children in the foster care system, their foster parents and birth families including supervising visits. I served as the foster parent training coordinator and as an instructor. I was also tasked with creatively utilizing resources to obtain needed services and items for clients.
