My background is very diverse. I have been a registered nurse (RN) for 37 years. My clinical expertise is in psychiatric healthcare and also co-morbid medical conditions. I have a part-time private practice and have experience with inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient psychiatric services. My administrative expertise has been gathered through nonprofit and for-profit organization positions as: Program Administrator, Clinical Director, Vice President, Program Coordinator, Business Manager, and as the owner of my LLC. Another speciality is developing clinical and educational programs and overseeing budgets and staffing supervision, including hiring, and firing. My academic expertise has been in both large state and small private universities. I have taught undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level nursing students. This experience includes course development and revision, student advising, program and university committee membership, and program coordinator position. Through my initiative, Chatham University started its first Nursing Honor Society that has been accepted for induction as a chapter in Sigma Theta Tau International (nursing honor society).My research and scholarship has been focused on several different areas that overlap: mindfulness meditation and healthcare, mindfulness meditation and nursing education, excellence in nursing education, and postpartum depression. My work has been in collaboration with faculty from the University of Pittsburgh and faculty from Chatham University.
