Interim Chief Executive Officer
CurrentKathleen Stack was named Interim Chief Executive Officer of Freedom from Hunger effective January 2016. Ms. Stack is a seasoned international development professional with over 40 years of experience. Shortly after arriving at Freedom from Hunger in 1984, Ms. Stack was instrumental in the organization’s strategic transformation from traditional development programs to leveraging microfinance as a platform for increasing access to essential services for poor women and their families. First named a Vice President in 1997, she has directed the strategic and business planning process and global program development and operations. Ms. Stack is recognized as a leader in creating strategies, partnerships and methodologies to promote food security and financial inclusion. She has provided program design, capacity-building, training and evaluation services for financial services and civil society organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She is the author or co-author of numerous practitioner manuals, tools and articles. Ms. Stack co-led the Global Financial Education Program supported by Citi Foundation from 2003 to 2008. She was a founding member of The SEEP Network and has served on the SEEP Board of Directors. Before joining Freedom from Hunger, Ms. Stack managed a USAID credit and nutrition education project in Burkina Faso, was an Assistant Country Director for Plan International and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali. Ms. Stack holds an M.A. in International Administration from the School for International Training Graduate Institute and a B.A. in Psychology from Clark University.
