Created the Algebra Task Force, to develop policies and recommendations to ensure access to and equity in quality of instruction in Algebra across DCPS.Manage the $2 Million STEM team budget by conducting the DC government compliant procurement process, and employing financial systems such as PASS (requisition and procurement system), SOAR (System of Accounting & Reporting), CFO$olve (data extraction and report writing system), and Amex.Conducted professional development sessions for Algebra and Geometry teachers, to support their development in planning for and teaching the district's new curriculum. Wrote and published Cornerstone Projects for Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2.

Work directly with teachers, parents, and students in order to foster positive relationships between these stakeholders and hold all parties accountable to our academic program which is the most rigorous in the city and nation.Collect and analyze academic data weekly, in order to make decisions about how to improve student achievement in collaboration with the school leadership team.Manage the Academic Support Program, which provides programming and one-one mentoring from faculty to 26% of the student population each year resulting in improved academic performance and relationships between students and staff.As the College Board AP Coordinator oversee the programming throughout the school year for AP courses, and coordinate the administration of 270 AP Exams given in 15 different subjects to 138 students, resulting in 100% participation on test days.Uphold the BASIS network’s high academic standards. Counsel students and their families alongside other faculty members to develop plans for students who do not meet promotion requirements or students who need an individual academic plan.Manage a team of staff including the Curriculum Coordinator for Data, Compliance and Assessment and the School Registrar, in order to oversee the success of projects such as scheduling, standardized state and network testing, enrollment. Work closely with the College Counselor to oversee college planning programs.Work closely with the SPED Coordinator to oversee the Student Support Team Program and its implementation. Write SST plans and support teachers in the use of classroom intervention and data collection. Collect and analyze SST data in order to determine next steps for students.

In the 2013-2014 school year, my students had a 99% proficiency rate on the DC CAS exam with 84% of my students performing at the advanced level. The median Student Growth Percentile on the CAS assessment for students I taught was 63 compared to the school MGP of 51, exhibiting statistically significant growth rates. This same year, students performed at or above BASIS network average in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 comprehensive exams.Led a group of 4 other teachers in the department to develop the mathematics department common expectations and best-practices upon the opening of the school in 2012.Upon identifying areas of improvement for student achievement, developed and implemented the school-wide “Math Rebound” program as a framework for support and a structure for upholding an uncompromising set of high expectations for all students.Developed, implemented, and coordinated the school’s first peer tutoring program for mathematics which paired an average of 175 students together each year since Spring 2013, resulting in increased access to support and a culture of collaboration among students.

Collaborated directly with Program Coordinator and professors at Morehouse College in order to develop the framework for this program, with the goal of educating APS males in the STEM fields so that they would pursue a degree in STEM education.Developed and implemented interdisciplinary curriculum for the summer program, in collaboration with science & english instructors.Taught mathematics course to ~45 Junior male students in this program and held them accountable to the program standards.

Selected as a teacher-leader to strengthen the collaboration between STEM teachers in the district. Through participation in monthly workshops led by professors at Georgia Tech, built a framework for vertical and horizontal alignment among STEM teachers which I then implemented on my campus.Improved upon the GaDOE unit framework tasks after completing an online course in Statistics, led by Georgia Tech professor and NASA, and shared units with the Atlanta Public Schools curriculum and instruction department.Equipped all students in my classroom with free TI n-spire calculators for one year through the grant program, resulting in improved technology skills for students who otherwise would not have access.
