Human Rights Complaints Officer
Current- Prepare, draft, and revise factums, lawsuits, and police ethics, civil rights, administrative labour, and other complaints- Communicate and follow-up with clients in person and over the telephone - Manage client cases including application preparation (filling out forms, preparing relevant documents and filing) and accompaniment at mediations or conciliations- Acted as supervisor for six pro bono law students from McGill University and Université de Montréal for the two special projects related to court case analysis and legal case development paper through creating timelines, assigning tasks with deadlines, reviewing work, and providing ongoing feedback- Synthesized data from two special projects into reports and PowerPoint presentationsCompleted two special projects:- Conducted jurisprudential research for victim-focused access to justice project concerning racial profiling in several sectors, specifically the policing sector, and analyzed and consolidated various data on the 104 Quebec court and tribunal decisions related to racial profiling between 2016 to 2021- Conducted jurisprudential and doctrinal research and analysis and wrote case development related to race and the discriminatory application by police of s.129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
