People tell me things. Deep listening is central to my creative and professional life. Whether it's detecting and drawing out a suppressed insight from an interview subject or editing content to clarify a client's intended message, I can confidently guide communication toward the core of the story. As co-owner of digital storytelling studio, Basic Cable Creative, I combine my journalism background, natural curiosity and aesthetic preferences to propose, produce and edit short documentary videos for clients. We've worked with some truly amazing people and organizations. Our industry specialties include: public art, municipalities, healthcare science marketing and higher education institutions. I've acquired writing agility from 5 years of working in competitive TV newsrooms as a Producer for a nightly newscast, a news entertainment program and a morning news show. Growing up, both my parents worked at a small town newspaper where I developed mentor relationships with reporters and photographers who appreciated community engagement and slow, thoughtful reporting. It was probably that early immersion that led 3rd grader, Kathleen to co-opt the copier for my own underground recess newspaper. Today, I remain endlessly excited by the evolving plurality of digital media and the tools available to create meaningful, impactful work.
