Kathleen DeLawrence, COO, came to Ability Prosthetics and Orthotics with over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry background. This includes strategic planning and operational management knowledge, as well as product launch and merger integration experience across small, mid-size, and large companies.Before coming to Ability, Kathleen parlayed her deep operational business and startup acumen into a strategic consulting practice focused on entrepreneurial businesses in the healthcare and life sciences market. She brings her cross-discipline experience to Ability, which includes a wide range of consulting and corporate management assignments.Kathleen was the chief operating officer for Prism Pharmaceuticals where she was responsible for business operations and the functional areas of manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, and commercial operations in this role. Prior to Prism, Kathleen was the vice president and general manager of Dover Communications, a privately owned medical education company, where she led business operations, sales delivery, and financial reporting. AstraMerck is where she started her pharmaceutical career after a few years in business strategy consulting with Pricewaterhouse. Kathleen still dabbles in consulting with entrepreneurs to fulfill a personal passion of sharing her learnings.

Responsible for developing the target operating model for newly formed US patient care network that is growing organically and inorganically. Leading the process harmonization and custom technology platform implementation across current portfolio of ten acquisitions and numerous greenfield startups while maintaining current business operations with limited impact to revenue. Us

Founding manager and business architect for startup, staffing and day-to-day business operations covering business planning and development; commercial operations; clinical program management; supply chain, marketing and sales, and infrastructure. Brought three contract manufacturers online to support multiple dosage forms of three portfolio compounds. Built out distribution, marketing, and sales distribution to support commercialization and launch of initial product in 2010 with 2 FDA approved NDAs. Company acquired by Baxter Healthcare in 2011 for $170M.

P&L responsibility for all facets of agency management including client services; creative; editorial; and operations. Developed and directed a cross-functional team of 22 that drove revenue targets over $12M. Direct staff management included setting sales targets and functional direction for tactical account management; editorial development; graphic design; production; meeting design, logistics management and travel fulfillment. Managed the business through through two successive acquisitions within a span of six months while delivering P&L objectives.

Managed a staff of 47 people supporting the commercialization of pharmaceutical products. Specific areas of responsibility included product management; marketing operations; sales operations; and strategic sales alliance management. Directed and led the merger integration program office (Astra Pharmaceuticals, LP and Zeneca) for commercial operations with over 5,000 US-based marketing and sales personnel.

Managed a team that provided business process reengineering facilitation, project management and technology visioning for a not-for-profit company. Additionally, was responsible for growing this account from a $50,000 opportunity into a $1.5M engagement in eight months. Facilitated the reshaping of business processes for a multinational manufacturer of home and commercial building materials. The project included an in-depth analysis of the corporate finance function. Through business process reengineering techniques, influences in processes, information systems and organizations were identified and new path forward recommended. Provided additional revenue opportunities through excellent client management and outcome planning.

Provided leadership to a project team, which defined the system and interface requirements for a $40 million custom design cost management system. Defined the system process requirements that were the by-product of information engineering (James Martin Methodology and Knowledgeware case tools) workshops. Assisted the team in bringing closure to organizational and process design issues. Incorporated change management concepts into the systems methodology planning process. Lead the team which developed and coordinated the system and interface requirements for a $30 million distributed imaging and engineering configuration management system, with potential savings of $40 million a year. Reengineering techniques were applied to the areas of engineering, manufacturing, configuration management, quality, sourcing and program management offices. Additionally, developed change management approaches, strategic plan and initial communication campaign to all functional areas.
