Coordinated and promoted the City's recycling program; to identify, recommend and implement new waste diversion programs and practices; and recommend new markets for recyclable materials.Met and managed compliance of a State law requiring the City to reduce the amount of garbage sent to landfill by 50%, as well as managed a City ordinance requiring that Construction and Demolition Debris be recycled. Managed Used Oil Grant by conducting surveys of Used Oil Collection Centers and submitting annual report about grant spending. Developed, as part of a team, Countywide public education campaigns about the proper disposal of electronic waste, used oil, old tires, and hazardous waste.Created new programs with other jurisdictions in the County to evaluate and create new and innovative waste reduction programs.

Educated youth groups with hands-on presentations about recycling, pollution, litter prevention, and natural resources. Researched battery recycling programs, Citywide curbside recycling initiatives and "America Recycles Day" events.

Prepared legislative background information on the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and organized over 100 residents from around the state to participate in hearings at the State Assembly and Senate in Sacramento.Provided information about Clean Water Action to the public and organized data center on water and toxic issues.Litter Clean-Up Event 2002; Assisted with picking up garbage on the coast of Sanfrancisco Bay resulting in the diversion of nearly 100 pounds of garbage from going into the Bay.
