Profile bio

About Kathleen Garner

Devoted design professional nearing 10 years of experience in the AEC field. As a 2015 Cum Laude graduate with a B.Arch degree and minor in Construction Management, this creative and analytical training sparked my passion towards process driven design where intentions are clearly researched and represented at all stages - striving to consistently review and improve to achieve notably higher results thereafter. Practicing this self and teamwork reflection reinforces attaining my steady intent to design spaces that prove to be resilient not only on a technical level but also one which evokes a resilient sensory response for its users. This vision of resiliency initiated through travel and research practices alike during my education and fortunately has carried on with each stride through my career. To achieve resilient designs, it is the duty of AEC professionals to adapt and respond accordingly to innovations in construction, environmental shifts, procurement limitations, new code implications, and evolving clientele goals to match prevailing trends or budgetary concerns. I have experience pushing these considerations through all project phases - while the primary focus of my work has been in large scale-new construction mixed-use design, the breadth ranges from single/multi-family into historical preservation, adaptive reuse, hospitality, & senior living.I’ve built upon this ethos by earning increasing responsibilities for QA/QC at all project phases by assisting project managers with client management and contractual obligations, building and accessibility code reviews, documentation coordination, leadership in mentoring new staff, and supporting projects through bidding and construction. Beyond a liking to conceptualize projects by hand, I apply thorough attention to 2D & 3D digital construction documentation methods - with a keen eye towards detailing and assembly knowledge to support the broader sensory response of engaging and resilient design results. I welcome opportunities to see projects through from conceptual design to completion, not only to better my own professional development but also to ensure the most efficient and cohesive experience for clients I serve in bringing projects to life. This gratitude continues to grow with each construction site I’m able to witness build while learning from frequent interaction with contractors, owner’s consultants, and other trades alike. I'll always be seeking opportunities which inspire me to expand upon my skill set and knowledge while contributing to the success of new project endeavors.

Listed skills include Sketchup, Autocad, Rendering, Indesign, and 26 others.
