This I believe: Life is always short, often beautiful, and most of the time way too complicated. God is always large, always loving, and forever good. I’m very small, and very simple. Faith is always necessary. (So is chocolate.) And home, family, and friends constitute great wealth.WritingI have freelanced for publications large and small since 1986, publishing more than a thousand articles, columns, and broadcasts for numerous media outlets, including several years of regular contributions to Reader's Digest and CBC Radio. Since 2001, I've written a weekly newspaper faith and life column, also available online at http://www.kathleengibson.ca/sunnysideup I'm a former magazine editor, and currently serve as assistant to a federal politician. In 2007, a mosquito bit my husband, Rick, infected him with West Nile Neurological disease, and subsequently spawned my first book, West Nile Diary, One Couple's Triumph over a Deadly Disease, published in 2009. A second book followed in 2010: Practice by Practice, The Art of Everyday Faith. Speaking: -Workshop leader, women's conference speaker, and motivational/inspirational speaker for social, writing, and faith-based organizations since 1982.Reflecting our own experience with sudden life change brought on by my husband's catastrophic mosquito bite, we have, separately and together, been privileged share our story with a wide audience in person and through various media, offering inspiration and hope to others facing devastating life change-or those who may.Believing that well-crafted, close-to-the-bone human stories, remain one of the truest gifts we can offer others, in my personal writing, I've focussed most on those. A few of my works have startled me by winning national and international awards.Simple Words, my 90 second radio spot focussing on the intersection of faith and life, airs on various Christian radio stations internationally.
