My love of fine art, decorative art and architecture began as a teen while I attended high school in Germany in the mid 1980s. I spent many years traveling throughout Europe, and visited Florence, Paris, Madrid, London and countless cities. I lingered among the people, in the fine museums, monuments, cathedrals and castles. I developed a passionate interest in European works of art, styles, decor and architecture. Each work of art and architectural structure was individually unique, and had a long story to tell about where, when, how and why it was created. I developed a fervor for, and became a life long student of those stories - or the history of art.As the years went by, my passion for all things artistic never died. However, in college while selecting a major, my practical side took over. I needed to pick a major with good job prospects upon graduation in order to support myself, and an art major felt risky. I chose healthcare, specifically Clinical Nutrition, and became a Registered Dietitian. For 20 years, I helped patients with their diets specific to their conditions and diseases, and eventually opened my own practice. While I felt I was a compassionate counselor, and enjoyed helping people, I never felt the true fervor and curiosity I felt about art history.Eventually I decided it was time for a career change. It had to be a field with a focus in art history, art appreciation and research - three of my passions. The field also needed to make good use of the analytical skills I developed while spending 20 years in the sciences. I completed the Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts program at NYU, and became a USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) certified appraiser. The work I've done as an appraiser since then has been immensely fulfilling. My life long passion has now become my "job". I am honored to appraise your collected treasures, and promise integrity and excellence in practice.
