The Director of Residence Life & Housing provides strategic leadership over the residence life and housing program that helps Linfield students thrive, flourish, and persist. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the Residence Life & Housing department, including the development of inclusive and vibrant communities in the residence halls and apartment areas, as well as the physical upkeep of residential units.

* Establish and maintain a safe academic living environment for 300 residential students * Supervise a staff of eight Resident Assistants - Conduct interviews and oversee the selection process for hiring - Plan and implement fall and spring RA training - Facilitate a weekly staff meeting and regular team building activities - Advise members of the RA staff in biweekly one-on-ones on community needs, programming ideas, leadership development, and managing interpersonal conflict - Articulate repercussions of job probation and termination when necessary* Oversee the overall administration of residential units which include a traditional residence hall and seven townhouses* Preside over all conduct hearings and determine the punitive or restorative consequences* Maintain at least ten office hours a week and visibility throughout the residence hall each night* Rotate emergency on-call duty each night and every other weekend, assessing risk situations and acting on them as needed* Maintain communication with the Executive Director of Student Affairs and the Interim Director of Residence Life

* Conducted research and assessment in regards to how the Office of Student Activities and the Student Union Board compares to other universities* Consulted with professionals at several outside universities by emailing departments, conducting phone interviews, and distributing a survey during the weekly #SAChat on Twitter* Identified comparable offices and arranged site visits to three peer institutions* Collaborated with the planning and implementation of all opening programming, including selecting appropriate novelty items, initiating and negotiating contracts, submitting technical riders, and coordinating the university signature process* Contacted and booked several bands to play during the student tailgates and created a database for local North Carolina bands* Facilitated the execution of the summer movie series, including the management of all ticket sales and promotion

* Fostered and developed relationships among 36 residents, consisting of both first year female students and predominately male upperclassmen* Planned and implemented programs to assist in building a floor community * Counseled and advised students on academic decisions, personal decision making, and decisions concerning their future* Managed administrative duties including maintenance requests, incident reports, room changes, etc.* Rotated an emergency on-call duty shift with seven other Resident Assistants* Assisted with the interviews and hiring of new Resident Assistants and Graduate Directors* Worked to create an atmosphere which combined the demographic of each building to create an overall community through a joined Hall Council of approximately fifty students, joint building-wide programs, and staff visibility throughout each building

* Assisted with the audio visual aspects of Freshmen Orientation and Parent Orientation* Created and Implemented presentations consisting of, but not limited to: power points, videos, performance skits, and speaker microphones* Set up and broke down room arrangements between sessions throughout the day* Assisted in answering questions from parents during the Parent Orientation and the Student Panel
