Kathleen King is experienced in financial and commodity markets and in the energy sector. She has provided expert testimony and consulting support as well as advisory services on matters including market manipulation, other trading and risk management practices, contract disputes, bankruptcy, modeling power markets and valuing power plants, and pricing of wholesale and retail energy products. Dr. King has testified regarding alleged market manipulation in energy markets, including assessment of price movements, trading patterns, and fundamental supply and demand factors. She was retained as an expert witness in cases involving allegations of market manipulation and involving allegations related to options trading in commodities markets. Her analysis included assessing the artificiality of prices and modeling prices that would have prevailed but-for alleged conduct. She has opined on the fair value of forward contracts for natural gas delivery in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and on reasons for oil price changes and their impact on petrochemical manufacturing costs.
