Cancer takes more kids’ lives than any other disease in the United States. St. Baldrick’s exists to overcome the horrific realities of the childhood cancer journey and provide each child a full and healthy lifetime. Progress has been made, but clearly much more is needed. Advances in technology, genomics and immunotherapy and many other disciplines suggest great advances are on the horizon. I have led St. Baldrick’s growth from the ground up – starting with a few passionate volunteers to becoming the largest private funder of childhood research grants in the world. Raising money through our signature head-shaving events, along with partnering with corporations and foundations, we fund every stage of research to find cures and better treatments for the more than 100 types of childhood cancers. New therapies have been developed because of St. Baldrick’s supported research and federal advocacy efforts.St. Baldrick’s is made up of everyday heroes — from children battling cancer, to researchers, to volunteers and donors from all ages and walks of life who generously contribute time and money to support and fund our mission.
