I used mouse model systems to explore the behavioral and molecular signs of low back pain as a result of aging and disc degeneration.

I completed my PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Terence Coderre in the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain at McGill University. My graduate studies focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying central sensitization in chronic pain models. Specifically, I studied how the subcellular distribution of group I metabotropic glutamate receptors in the spinal cord dorsal horn leads to unique signaling cascades contributing to pathological pain signaling in neuropathic and inflammatory pain conditions.
